Riverside Tenants’ Solar Co-op

180 kW of solar on four apartment roofs, owned and run by the people who live under them.

68% funded · $122,400 of $180,000

When it’s done: About $310 a year off each household’s power bill, and 140 tonnes of CO₂e avoided each year.

It started with a meeting in a laundry room. The tenants of four buildings on Elm Street wanted lower bills and a say in where their power came from.

EverAlliance matched them with a solar engineer, helped them form a co-op, and is pooling gifts and a foundation grant to pay for the panels. The co-op owns the system; the savings stay in the buildings.

What your gift does

  • $50 buys the mounting hardware for one panel
  • $250 pays for one panel
  • $1,000 funds a day of installation by local electricians
